The "mother tongue learning method" - or often also called the "Suzuki method" - is based on the assumption that every child has enormous learning potential that needs to be awakened and encouraged.
It was founded by the Japanese Shinichi Suzuki (1898-1998) and initially existed for violin; but was later transferred to numerous other instruments.
The Swiss Suzuki Institute (SIS) was founded in 1989 and is affiliated with the European Suzuki Society (ESA). All teachers living in Switzerland who teach according to the Suzuki method and have an ESA-recognized qualification can join the SIS.
